The family now has 6 members with the safe arrival of their new baby boy, Vasile Eugen born in January 2012. Vasile(father) is working as a car mechanic and earns a salary of 550Ron $AUD212. Eugenia is a housewife taking care of their 4 children. She receives a Child Benefit from the State of 126Ron $AUD49. The family lives in a rented house and the living conditions are poor. Their goal is to one day own their own home. There is a warm atmosphere in the family and the relationship between each member is harmonious and all family members are healthy.

Eugenia, together with the children go to the Baptist church and Sunday School. Vasile rarely goes, but his wife (together with the children) pray for him and they hope one day he will receive God in his heart. Cosmin and Lorena went to MWB’s Summer Camp and the family participates in our Bible Correspondence Course.

Community: Poplaca ROMANIA - Poplaca is a village community of about 1800 people. It is in the foot hills of the Cindrel Mountains and about 12kms south west of the capital Sibiu. This area’s history is more influenced by the Romans that lived in the area hundreds of years ago.

This is a mountainous agricultural area and the families from this community survive by living off their farms, breeding animals and growing crops. The area can sustain different kinds of trees, grape vines, vegetable and cereals. Some people from this community, but not many, have jobs in the town of Sibiu.

The community doesn’t have any storage or pipe system for water, so most people use the natural water from the wells on their land (if they have a well). This means most homes do not have showers and toilets are outside pit-toilets. A new water system and filtration station is in the process of being built.

There is good access to medical facilities with a government health clinic and pharmacy and there are major hospitals and medical facilities in the town of Sibiu, not far away. The village has a kindergarten, a Primary (First- fourth Class) and Secondary (fifth to eighth Class) School, but the children have to go into Sibiu for High School. The community has an Orthodox and Baptist church, which partners with MWB to reach the people of this area for Christ. Whilst the main roads are made of tarmac, many in this area are gravel and concrete. The main industries from this community are wood-working and meat processing factories. Despite a positive growth in Sibiu, the surrounding rural areas support poor families who eke out an existence with almost no help and very little hope for a better future. It is to these families that MWB seeks to help; spiritually, educationally & materially.
