ALBANIA: THE MECI FAMILY. Albana (37) is now divorced after her husband abandoned his wife and two sons Skerdilajd (15) and Igli (13). She did have a job in a tailoring business but when the economic crisis hit last year, she was one of the first to be fired. She is classified as an invalid because of a problem with a leg muscle which is painful and causes her to walk with a limp, but she receives no financial assistance from the State. They live in a two roomed house where the floor is bare concrete with no carpet or rug coverings. The cooking was done outside on a small gas stove, but thanks to a Special Project, Albana has a new cooking stove. There is no bathroom but the toilet is inside. They require one more sponsor to support them as they work toward self-sufficiency. The monthly pledge is $35. Click here if you would like to assist this abandoned family. BULGARIA: THE KORDEVI FAMILY Georgi and Rumyana are parents to a son, Hristo (15) and a daughter, Rozalia (12). They live in an old three roomed ramshackled house with Georgi’s father and epileptic brother. The living environment is grim - cement floor, leaking roof and damaged ceiling, old and rickety furniture. Both parents are unqualified but they are registers at the local Employment Agency and they get occasional work. Their total income is approximately $AU120 per month. The family survives by buying on credit from the local grocery store and having meals from the government Soup Kitchen. Hristo is very irregular with his school attendance and the health situation of the family is really poor. The family needs encouragment and support (materially, spiritually and emotionally). Aurica is a skilled farmer and she grows vegetable seedlings and sells them to villagers as well as tending their vegetable garden and fruit trees. Vasile goes fishing and they use fish as food and also they sell some to the villagers. With their family of 2boys and 2 girls, the parents want to get out from the poverty net. They have this strong desire in their hearts and with some help and support there is a strong probability they will become self sufficient. They require
