The ravages of communism for many decades has left people very destitute. In Bosnia the effects of the war are still showing in many families.

In Albania, the Kosovo crisis brought many refugees into the country and though this was only temporary, has left the economy there at an even lower level than before.

In Ukraine the results of the Chernobyl disaster, now twenty years ago, has poisoned the ground where many live meaning that their health is continuously affected.

In Romania, families are still bringing their children to Children’s Homes for their upbringing because they are too poor to afford to care for them. When we help the families, we are keeping the children in a home, where there may well be a strong familial love not found in the institutions of Romania.

Moldova is such a poor country that almost 1 million of its people have left to find work elsewhere. That is a huge loss for a country with a population of around 4 million people.

In Bosnia, families devastated by war are living in atrocious situations. Many were displaced by the war and have suffered significant trauma. While helping practically in this country with 60% unemployment, our ministry has a focus of emotional and spiritual counselling and comfort, with some heart-warming results.

The goal is to help the family gain self-sufficiency.

Our Family-to-Family program is in Albania, Bosnia, Moldova, Romania and Ukraine.
